BRIEF: Stewart's issues recall on mislabeled ice cream

April 09--SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Stewart's Shops has issued a recall of pints of its chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream, because the containers might have incorrect lids, according to a press release from the company.

Some of the pints might have lids that indicate the contain chocolate ice cream. The affected pints were distributed in upstate New York and southern Vermont, the company said.

The ice cream is packaged in 16 oz. cardboard containers, with a UPC code of 0 82086 44468 8. Affected pints have sell-by dates of 8/23/18. The date can be found on the bottom of the package.

All other expiration code dates of the ice cream are not affected by the recall, Stewart's said.

The presence of peanuts in the ice cream could cause illness for those who are allergic to peanuts. No illnesses related to the mislabeled ice cream had been reported as of Monday, the company said.

Customers who purchased the recalled pints can return them to their local Stewart's shops for a full refund. For more information, contact the company's consumer affairs department at 518-581-1200, ext. 2130.
