BRIEF: 200 tons of H-E-B sausage with incomplete ingredient list recalled, USDA says

Austin American-Statesman - 6/13/2018

June 13--More than 200 tons of H-E-B smoked sausage has been recalled after pork casing was missing from the ingredient list on the package, officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service said.

Officials have not received any confirmed reports of anyone experiencing negative affects after eating the sausage, but the pork casing can cause some people to have an allergic reaction, they said.

"Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider," agriculture officials said.

J Bar B Foods, which supplied H-E-B with the 410,985 pounds of sausage, was alerted to the incomplete ingredient list after a customer asked about the product on Tuesday, agriculture officials said.

The product is a 12-ounce package produced between June 21, 2016 and May 29, 2018, and is labeled "H-E-B TEXAS HERITAGE SAUSAGE SMOKED WITH NATURAL HARDWOOD BEEF BRISKET," agriculture officials said.
